Web design trends are forever moving on and changing, which makes our job difficult but also exciting! Sometimes it’s hard to know if you need a new website, here is a checklist we have made to see if you need a new website:
1. Responsive Web Design
The first and most important point, is your website mobile friendly? If not, then you are likely to have problems converting your traffic into customers. In the modern day, more than 50% of website visitors opt to use their smart devices to access websites, if your website isn’t mobile friendly, they will most likely find one that is.
2. Social Media Integration
Another important aspect of any online presence is social media. Does your website make it easy for your fans to follow or share your content? Social media is becoming more and more important with any business, without it, you run the risk of your brand feeling tired.
3. Shareable Content
Does your website have a blog or a news feed? Link building is an important part of SEO and the best way to get people linking to your website is to produce content on a regular basis, usually through a blog of some sort. This content should always be shareable so it can gain as much as exposure as possible.
4. Content Management System
Can you easily update your website? For you to produce new or adjust content easily, it should be placed on a content management system.
5. Call To Action
Call to action prompts are buttons that catch the users attention on any page. If you want a visitor to contact you for example, there should be an easy to see button to take that user to your contact page presented in an enticing way. Call to actions should be surrounded by great content, give them a reason to get in touch with you!
6. Website Speed
Old websites tend to use old technology – which usually cause website load times to slow down. Google takes website speed into consideration when ranking your website so it’s important that your website loads in a reasonable time. Records also show that visitors will abandon your website if it takes longer than 2s to load!
7. It Looks Dated
This is an obvious one. If it’s clear to see that your website looks dated compared to competitors then it is probably time to update! Your website needs to look appealing – it is your digital shop window after all. Your website is often the first things a potential client will visit, make sure that first impression is great!
Those are our top seven points to look out for when decided if you need a new website. If your website is not adhering to most of those points, then the chances are you need our help.
